Middlesbrough Schools Football Festival

The year 5/6 boys and girls football teams were entered into the Middlesbrough schools football festival held at the sports village. In total around 35 schools had entered making it a tough competition to win.
After playing some fantastic football in the morning round of games finishing with 2 wins, 3 draws and 1 loss the boys finished 3rd in the group and progressed into plate 1 for the afternoon round of games. The boys displayed some excellent resilience, skill and team work winning 2 games and losing 1 which meant the boys moved into the semi-finals against Breckon Hill. The game started fantastically for Park End with an early fantastic team worked goal. With a minute remaining the boys stood up to the challenge and defended extremely well, winning 1-0.
The final was against Beech grove who we had been beaten by in the earlier round. Knowing it was going to be a tough match the boys started with enthusiasm and passion. It was an end to end game with neither team being able to break the dead lock ending 0-0. Penalties! The boys produced some fantastic penalties combined with two fantastic saves from Callum the boys came away with the win. Well done a fantastic team performance from all the boys!!
The girls were given a hard group of four schools in the morning round of games. The girls done really well during the morning group finishing 3rd in the league showing passion, motivation and confidence which saw them move into group c for the afternoon round of games.
The afternoon round of games saw the girls play some fantastic football seeing them into the semi-finals. Through hard work, determination and team work the girls won their semi-final and moved into the final.
The final was a really close contested game during the second half of the game the girls rose to the challenge playing some great football! Park End eventually coming out on top and winning their respective final. Well done girls a fantastic team performance!
Mr Lovatt, Mrs Wetherley, Mr Storey and Mr Holmes were extremely pleased with all the children’s effort in bringing back two trophies, well done!!
